At G&C Mutual Bank’s 65th Annual General Meeting in November 2024, members voted overwhelmingly in favour of the merger with Unity Bank. Preparations are well underway for the merger, including the integration of the two banking systems onto one platform on 7 March 2025.

Scheduled system maintenance notice

To facilitate the integration of the two banking systems onto one platform, members are advised of scheduled system maintenance from 5pm, Friday 7 March. The duration of this outage will be confirmed closer to the date. During the outage, Online Banking and our Mobile App will be unavailable. Where possible, we suggest that you make arrangements to access your accounts prior to this outage to minimise any disruption.

Upon successful completion of the banking system integration, G&C Mutual Bank members will continue to be able to access Online Banking via the website, using your existing Member Number and Access Code. The SMS One Time Password upon login will continue to be in place, for your security.

Our existing Mobile App will continue to be available to members, however please be aware that you may be logged out during the system integration process. If this is the case, simply log back in using your existing Member Number and Access Code. You will be required to complete the usual SMS One Time Password step, for your security. We apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

How will the merger affect me?

We are pleased to confirm that there will be no change to the bank’s BSB number, 659-000. Further, we can confirm that there will be no change to your Member Number, Account Number or Alternative Reference Number, as a result of the merger.

Members are advised that alerts received via email or text message following the merger may be different to what you are used to. Text messages may come from a display name reflecting Unity Bank, G&C Mutual Bank or a combination of both, and emails may come from the unitybank.com.au domain or the gcmutual.bank domain that members would be familiar with. This will continue for a period of time while we continue to work through the consolidation of services and providers. If you have any concerns about the authenticity of a communication, please contact our Member Service team on 1300 364 400 to verify its authenticity.

Please refer to our dedicated frequently asked questions for more detailed information about the merger with Unity Bank.

We are also pleased to advise that members will enjoy the following benefits as a result of the merger:

  • The alignment of the fee structures across both organisations for relevant product categories will result in either the abolition or reduction of more than 40 fees and charges. These changes will directly benefit members and are anticipated to collectively save members more than $720,000 per annum.
  • The new transaction alerts feature will enable members to control when and how they are notified of transactions and events such as account balance outside of nominated range, debits and withdrawals outside of nominated range, advance notice of maturing term deposit, notification when payments are due on credit accounts and notification of a payroll deposit. Giving members greater visibility and control over their banking.
  • Facilitation of a direct link to the Xero Accounting Software to automatically import bank transactions, making life easier for small businesses.
  • New products and services available immediately following the merger. These will be detailed on our website at that time, and we look forward to sharing them with you.
